The 2019 NFL season is now 12 weeks old and the time is now to start picking up people from their fantasy football waiver wire. Every year a no name blows up in Week 1 and ends up being a top-20 fantasy football player over the remainder of the season. So, instead of letting your competition beat you to the punch, use your fantasy football waiver wire to find the next big thing.

Let’s get things started by taking a look at some fantasy football waiver wire running backs for Week 13.

Jonathan Williams, RB, Indianapolis Colts

After Marlon Mack (hand) left Week 11 early, Williams topped 100 yards on the ground on 13 carries. Last Thursday night against the Houston Texans, with a bigger role from the start, Williams had 26 carries for 104 yards along with three catches for 17 yards. Jordan Wilkins was active, but had zero touches while Nyheim Hines was No. 2 in the pecking order (nine carries for 51 yards, two catches for 10 yards).

Mack is expected to miss multiple games, so Williams should keep a big role against the Tennessee Titans in Week 13. It’s not a great matchup, as the Titans entered Week 12 in the top half of the league against running backs. But an individual rusher has had at least 19 carries and more than 75 yards against them in back-to-back games.

If Mack remains out and Williams sticks in a top role, be aware of tough matchups in Week 14 (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) and Week 15 (New Orleans Saints) before a great matchup against the Carolina Panthers in Week 16. But Williams is a viable flex play in 12 and 14-team leagues for Week 13, with his outlook beyond that dependent on Mack’s status.
