Kalen Ballage, RB, Miami Dolphins

With Kenyan Drake traded away and Mark Walton suspended for four games, Ballage became the last man standing in Miami’s backfield rather quickly. His production was not outstanding on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts, with 45 total yards, but his volume (20 carries and four catches) did stand out and that’s enough to put him firmly on the fantasy radar.

Week 11 against the Buffalo Bills looks a lot better than it did before their Week 6 bye, as they’ve allowed at least 96 yards to an individual rusher in three straight games and more than 90 rushing yards to position in all four games since their idle week. Ballage scored against Buffalo back in Week 7, and now he’s in line for most of the work with Drake and Walton gone or unavailable.

Week 12 against the Cleveland Browns looks like a good matchup too, before a tough one against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 13 as Walton completes his suspension. If Ballage manages to maintain a solid role when Walton is back, Week 14-Week 16 against the New York Jets, New York Giants and Cincinnati Bengals looks promising.

Owning a piece of the Dolphins’ offense is not as vomit-inducing as it was earlier in the season. Ballage is viable as a flex option in 12 and 14-team leagues for the next couple weeks, with a great playoff schedule if he can hang onto any sort of notable role. He’s well worth a stash, if nothing else.
