Sam Darnold, QB, New York Jets
Darnold didn’t light it up through the air against the New York Giants on Sunday, going 19-for-30 for 230 yards and one touchdown. He he added 25 rushing yards and a score on the ground to help deliver a nice fantasy day, while perhaps most importantly he did not turn the ball over. A favorable stretch of schedule continues for Darnold in Week 11.
The Washington Redskins entered their Week 10 bye in the middle of the pack against quarterbacks. But in five of nine games a quarterback has posted more than 17.5 fantasy points against them, with for topping 20 fantasy points (Yahoo! scoring). Consider facing the two Dolphins signal callers, Jimmy Garoppolo in a monsoon and Kirk Cousins on a short week without Adam Thielen (when he had 285 passing yards as it was), and however stout Washington has been against quarterbacks is a flimsy facade.
Then Darnold gets favorable matchups against the Oakland Raiders, Cincinnati Bengals and Miami Dolphins from Week 12-14. Those are three of the six worst fantasy defenses against quarterbacks entering Week 10.
Darnold’s shaky play has kept fantasy owners away, and he hasn’t full exploited two great matchups in a row. But with the next four weeks as perhaps the most favorable-looking stretch for any quarterback for that span, there’s still time to get on the Darnold bandwagon and plenty of room to climb aboard.
