O.J. Howard, TE, Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Carolina Panthers

Dk Price: $4,300

Howard has been one of the most consistent tight ends in the league this season but still remains a solid value on DraftKings this week going up against a Panthers defense that has given up the most fantasy points to tight ends this season.

Howard has netted at least 54 yards in every game in which he was fully healthy for this season and has been a top-10 tight end in 5-of-6 healthy games this season as well. Howard has been one of the most impressive tight ends on paper in back-to-back seasons, here are some of his top ranks amongst tight ends listed on PlayerProfiler.com:

  • 12.3 yards per target – 1st
  • 17.5 yards per reception – 1st
  • 70% contested catch rate – 1st
  • 3 total TD’s – 3rd
  • .71 fantasy points per pass route – 3rd
  • 259 air yards – 5th
  • 160 yards after catch – 6th
  • 419 receiving yards – 6th

Howard ranks this highly in all of these categories despite the fact that he only fully played in 6 games this season. Pretty impressive.

The Panthers have given up either a TD or over 90 yards to a tight end in 5-of-7 games this season and with Ryan Fitzpatrick back under center, the entire Bucs offense could get a boost in production. Howard is not only one of the safest value plays this week but also gives plenty of overall TE1 upside at a $2,300 discount compared to Travis Kelce.

Kyle Rudolph, TE, Minnesota Vikings vs Detroit Lions

DK Price: $3,600

If you want to dive a little deeper at tight end this week, Kyle Rudolph is an attractive name you’ll find sub-$4k. Rudolph hasn’t exactly lived up to expectations as a locked in every week TE1 with Kirk Cousins under center, but he is still getting looks in the red zone where he has typically dominated.

Rudolph should have had a touchdown last week but it was called back on a penalty. His 7 targets inside the red zone ranks third on the team this season behind Adam Thielen (13) and Stefon Diggs (8).

The Vikes get a home matchup against the Lions this week who haven’t seen a lot of top-tier tight ends this season but have still given up 4 TD’s to the position this season. With Stefon Diggs a little banged up, Rudolph could potentially see a little more work than usual which would be a nice boost to his usually low yardage output this season. All you need from a tight end is a TD to really get close to top-5 production this season and Rudolph is a great bet to get there this week. He’s a solid buy as a back-end TE1 with top-5 upside this week.
