Bilal Powell, RB, New York Jets vs Indianapolis Colts
DK Price: $4,500
It’s not often a running back can handle 20 carries for 99 yards and get overlooked, but that is exactly what happened with Powell last week. That is mainly due to the fact that his backfield counterpart, Isaiah Crowell, blew up for 219 rushing yards on 15 carries in the same game.
It’s a new week, however, and the Jets backfield is still a very fluid situation with both backs mixing in relatively evenly each week. This week could be Powell’s time to shine in a plus matchup against the Colts who rank top-10 in most fantasy points allowed to RB’s.
What really stands out in favor of Powell is the Colts have been vulnerable to pass catching backs this season. James White just totaled 10 catches for 77 yards and 1 TD against them last week and Chris Thompson also lit them up for 13 receptions and 92 yards back in Week 2.
The Jets defense has been pretty good this season, but they haven’t completely shut teams down which should keep this game highly competitive, making the game flow work in Powell’s favor. Crowell also missed practice on Wednesday with an ankle injury, but this could also just be a rest day. If Crowell does randomly miss the game this week, Powell would be a borderline RB1 but still offers loads of value regardless as a solid value pick for your RB2 slot.
