Mitch Trubisky, QB, Chicago Bears vs Detroit Lions
DK Price: $5,600
If you are looking right outside of the top-10 priced QB’s this week on DraftKings, Mitch Trubisky stands out as a solid value. Trubisky was a huge disappointment last week against the Bills as the Bears put up 41 points in the game but only needed Trubisky to contribute 135 passing yards and 1 TD in the game. The defense and Jordan Howard did most of the heavy lifting when it came to scoring.
Before last week, Trubisky had been on an absolute tear between Weeks 4-8 throwing for over 300 yards in 3-of-4 games and combining for 13 passing TD’s over the four game span. Trubisky also showed surprisingly effective running the ball, averaging 58 rushing yards per game during that span.
This week, Trubisky gets a home matchup against the Lions who rank inside the top-10 in most fantasy points allowed to QB’s this season. Aside from Aaron Rodgers throwing for 442 yards in Week 5, the Lions have been respectable when it comes to passing yards allowed to QB’s. They have, however, given up multiple TD’s to QB’s in 6-of-8 games this season.
Trubisky is in a great bounce back spot statistically and even looks like he is getting top wideout Allen Robinson back in the mix on offense. Trubisky should have a decent shot at throwing for over 300 yards with 2-3 TD’s in this one and makes for a great value considering his average of 23 fantasy points per game on DraftKings ranks him higher than more expensive QB’s this week such as Aaron Rodgers ($6,400 – 22.3 FPPG) and Tom Brady ($6,000 – 20.3 FPPG).
Alex Smith, QB, Washington Redskins @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
DK Price: $5,300
A risky value pick at QB this week who could offer a surprisingly high ceiling is Redskins signal caller, Alex Smith. It’s mostly about the matchup this week for Smith who will go up against a Bucs defense that has basically let any and all QB’s do whatever they want against them this season. The Bucs defense is allowing an average of 322 passing yards per game to QB’s this season and almost 3 (2.8) passing TD’s per game as well. Not only are they getting shredded by QB’s but they also have only managed 1 interception all season which occurred way back in Week 3.
Smith is coming off his best game of the season last week where we saw him tie his season high of 46 passing attempts, completing 30 for 306 yards and 1 TD. Before last week, Smith hadn’t eclipsed 200 passing yards in each of his last three games, however. The Redskins are dealing with loads of injuries on offense, including two of their starting guards. The Buccaneers offense has also been one of the highest scoring this season which could coax Smith into another pass heavy performance. A similar stat line as last week could be expected as Smith is squarely on the streaming radar this week and if he can just find the end zone more than once, he would make for a solid value play in DFS this week.
